I created a western saloon bar, fit for a shoot out, in a barn in Kuitpo Forest.
I used scrap wood to make the bar front and top, propped up on trestles for quick and easy pack down. The lanterns had battery powered candles so we could use them during a fire ban period. The shelves were a combination of scrapwood and new sturdy brackets that had been distressed.
The cast enjoyed sipping on ice tea during the shoot (watered down for some colour variation) and although the actors enjoyed the tasty treat, so did the ants! So back to food colouring next time.
Love, Guns & Level Ups was set in the gaming world, providing a wide variety of challenges. I created doors and windows to look like they’d been barricaded with wood to keep zombies out. The wood panels had enough resistance to look like a challenge for the zombies to get through but also flew off dramatically. The wood panels were designed to be easy to redress after each shot, although they were a bit of a puzzle to put back together, so they were sneakily numbered for ease and continuity.
